Trail Mix Creative is listed in the Pressable partner directory as a development services provider. Pressable is Automattic’s managed WordPress host, and the directory is part of the Automattic for Agencies programme, so the listing is not something an agency can buy a slot in.
What the listing actually says
Our entry covers website and online store development, SEO, content strategy, email and social, and ongoing site maintenance and plugin management. Location is Jacksonville, Florida, with clients worldwide. It is a working profile rather than an award, and we would rather describe it accurately than inflate it.
Why we host client sites on Pressable
Hosting is the least visible decision in a web project and one of the few that is genuinely hard to reverse later. We standardised on Pressable because it removes a category of problem we used to spend real hours on.
Every site gets a staging environment that clones production, files and database together. That matters more than it sounds: it means a theme change can be seen rendering against real content before it touches the live site, rather than being deployed hopefully. Backups are automatic and restorable without a support ticket. WP-CLI is available over SSH, so deployments are scripted and repeatable instead of dragged through an FTP client. Edge caching and a global CDN come as standard rather than as a plugin someone has to configure correctly.
None of that is glamorous. All of it is the difference between a site that keeps working while you run your business and one that needs somebody watching it.
What this means if we build your site
You own the hosting account. We will set it up, configure it, and hand over the credentials, and you can move the site elsewhere whenever you like. We do not resell hosting at a markup or hold the account hostage as a retention device, which is a genuine practice in this industry and one worth asking any agency about directly.
If you already host somewhere you are happy with, we will work with it. Managed WordPress hosting is a recommendation, not a requirement, and a good host you already understand beats a better host you have to learn.
When Pressable is the wrong answer
It is WordPress-only, so a Shopify store or a Thinkific course site is out of scope by definition. It costs more than shared hosting, and for a small brochure site with light traffic that premium can be difficult to justify honestly. Sites needing unusual server-level software or a non-standard stack will hit the limits of any managed platform, Pressable included.
The case for it is strongest where a site is doing real commercial work: taking orders, capturing leads through forms, running campaigns that would cost money if the site were down. That is most of what we build.
The wider point about vendor relationships
Directory listings and partner badges are weak evidence on their own. Plenty are pay-to-play, and a logo on a homepage tells you very little about whether the relationship is real. The useful question is whether the agency uses the tool themselves, day to day, on their own property.
We do. This site runs on Pressable, deployed with the same scripted workflow we use for client work, tested on the same kind of staging clone. When we say a deployment pattern is safe, it is because we have run it against our own production site first.
